Lithiové baterie: A+, A nebo B?

When you buy lithium batteries, you will often come across different labels such as A+ grade, A-grade and B-grade. What is the difference between them? Is B-grade really worse? And what does A+ actually mean? Let's take a closer look at this issue.

What do the different lithium cell designations mean?

A+ grade (Certified Automotive Grade)

The highest quality that meets the strictest automotive standards.
These cells are designed for electric vehicles and other applications where maximum reliability is key.
They have complete documentation, detailed testing and certification.
Highest durability, stability and minimal variation between cells in one package.
Typically more expensive than other options.

A-grade (Standard Automotive Grade)

Passed factory tests but may have small deviations from ideal parameters.
Still suitable for more demanding applications, including electric vehicles and large battery storage systems.
Manufacturer certified, but not quite perfect compared to A+.
Slightly cheaper than A+ grade.

B-grade (Storage Grade)

Have not passed automotive testing, but that doesn't mean they are unusable.
They typically have lower capacity, higher internal resistance, or greater parameter dispersion between cells. For example, they may have dimensions that are not suitable for automotive use.
Great for solar storage, off-grid systems and DIY projects.
May require more frequent balancing and maintenance.
Most affordable.

Differences between battery quality classes:

Quality and reliability: class A+ offers the highest level of quality and reliability, followed by class A and then class B.

Price: Class A+ cells are usually the most expensive due to the rigorous testing and certification. Class A is more affordable and Class B is the cheapest.

Use: Class A+ is designed for critical applications such as electric vehicles. Class A is suitable for stationary energy storage and Class B for less demanding applications.
